Weighed Down
Woke at sunrise today
To get an early start
I’m going to trace my steps back
To where things fell apart
I will climb mountainsides
And over barren plains
And though I’m sure to suffer
I’ll savour each small gain
This walk is one that I must take
To cure my past mistakes
I will walk for hours
Draw upon all my reserves
Weighed down by all the pain I’ve wrapped around my heart
I will weather showers
Push onward although it hurts
Weighed down by all the pain I’ve wrapped around my heart
It seems everybody knows of the paths I need
All offer something different
But they’re just as lost as me
This walk is one that I must take
To cure my past mistakes
I will walk for hours
Draw upon all my reserves
Weighed down by all the pain I’ve wrapped around my heart
I will weather showers
Push onward although it hurts
Weighed down by all the pain I’ve wrapped around my heart
The city streets look lovely
They’re filled with wonder this evening
Keep quietly to myself
Though my body’s now aching
I will walk for hours
Draw upon all my reserves
Weighed down by all the pain I’ve wrapped around my heart
I will weather showers
Push onward although it hurts
Weighed down by all the pain I’ve wrapped around my heart
